Final Fantasy XIV won two categories for The Game Awards. The game won the ‘Best Ongoing’ and ‘Best Community Support’ awards for the year 2021. This is considerable considering the game was initially released in September 2010.
The Game Awards is a prestigious annual awards ceremony that recognises creative and technical excellence in the global video game industry. It was established in 2014 when it replaced the Spike Video Game Awards.
The ‘Best Ongoing’ is awarded to a game for outstanding development of ongoing content that evolves the player experience over time. Final Fantasy XIV beat other excellent games including, Apex Legends, Fortnite, Genshin Impact and Call of Duty: Warzone.
The ‘Best Community Support’ recognises a game for outstanding community support, transparency and responsiveness, inclusive of social media activity and game updates/patches. Final Fantasy XIV beat other notable games including Apex Legends, Destiny 2, Fortnite and No Man’s Sky.
