Final Fantasy XIV Patch 6.08 Releasing on January 24

Square Enix has sent out a notice that there will be maintenance for all words of Final Fantasy XIV on Jan. 24, 2022 8:00 p.m. to Jan. 25, 2022 2:00 a.m. (PST).

This maintenance is to implement Patch 6.08. The Final Fantasy XIV Patch 6.08 is highly anticipated as it releases the all new Oceanic Data Center called Materia and all the worlds in it. It will also mark the resumption of World Transfers which will come a day after.

In addition to the above, balance fixes are also expected to be rolled out. Now that the Final Fantasy XIV developers will have some data regarding how the different jobs perform in savages, there are many expecting that there will be some tuning for jobs. In a Radio Mog Station interview, Final Fantasy XIV Director Naoki Yoshida (aka Yoshi-P) has given hints that there will be buffs for Samurai, Black Mage and other jobs to reflect their pure dps roles compared to highly performing jobs with group utility such as Reaper.

Some highlights in that interview include:

  • Tuning for Black Mage and Samurai to reflect their solo oriented game play.
  • Damage buffs for Black Mage, Samurai and Monk to reflect how busy their jobs are.
  • Damage increases for Dancer and Paladin.

It is mentioned that the developer team prefer to buff the weaker jobs rather than nerfing the high performing jobs. This kind of tuning is welcome by a lot of the player base however it does also in effect nerf the difficulty of bosses. It is not expected for bosses to be re-tuned to reflect the overall increase in damage effectively making most fights easier.
